RELIGION and REPUBLICANISM

We are far more religious in this country than any other industrial country! While more progressive countries in Europe, especially the Scandinavian nations, have left religion behind as an anachronism, in the US religion is flourishing, and not only in the evangelical mega churches. Although non-believers are increasing steadily as a percentage of the population, religiosity is still rampant, infesting education and politics and holding back science. Incredibly, this hoax is still alive and well here in the US! Without help from the religious crowd, neither George W. Bush, nor Donald F. Trump would have been selected, – results that we are painfully aware of. That raises an important question: what has been most damaging for the country, – Religion, Republicanism, or the combination of the two?
