Hindsight is often easy, foresight harder but at times necessary!
What if
1) Those young mid-Eastern men taking commercial flying lessons with no interest in take-off and landing had been followed and kept track of,
2) Arab speaking American students at The Monterey Institute of Foreign Relations had not been fired because they were gay, and instead allowed to translate intercepted messages with clues to 9/11,
3) Bush had taken Clinton’s departing warning about Osama bin Laden seriously, and
4) the hijackers’ carryon baggage had been searched more thoroughly to find the box cutters they later used to kill the crews?
Have we learned something? Anything, – beyond taking shoes off before boarding airplanes? And, could the aftermath have bee handled better, more intelligently and better planned, in our long-term best interest? We had the world with us back then. Not anymore.
