The outdated Electoral College has given us two Republican presidents not elected by the majority of the population. George W. Bush sent our troops into bloody, unnecessary and unwinnable wars in the Middle East, partly based on lies. Donald J. Trump sent armed domestic terrorists into bloody, unnecessary and unwinnable war on the Capitol, partly based on lies. What have we learned from that “college”? Anything? Or did we do as poorly as these two EC-selected Republicans did in college?
When attacked, whether by foreign forces or domestic terrorists, – shouldn’t you have the right to defend yourself, with whatever means at your disposal and backed by the 2nd Amendment? And if the attackers suffer casualties, so what? It should be considered essential garbage clean-up!

Jorg,
Why did you include a comment about the 2nd Amendment under your topic of the Electoral College?
What is the connection?
I thought the connection between the attacks the Electoral College has given us under Republican administrations, and the right to defend ourselves if attacked, would be strikingly obvious. That’s where the 2nd Amendment comes in, – the right to arm ourselves, for what purpose? For self defense, of course! I’m not in favor of walking around in public armed with guns, – that’s the police’ job. But I am strongly in favor of the right to defend ourselves in our homes or where we work, – the US Capitol very much included. And if attackers end up dead, I consider it good for society! That’s why Capitol police should have used such a grand opportunity to get rid of society’s worse scum for good, whether encouraged by Trump, or not! Clear enough?
Jorg,
You have seen for years that a consistent Democrat goal has been to restrict 2nd Amendment rights.
It seems likely to me that if the EC is eliminated, so also, eventually, the 2nd Amendment will be eliminated too.,
That’s just shallow Republican propaganda that so many of them easily fall for. Democrats in general, and many Republicans and Independents as well, believe in the right to defend themselves and that firearms designed for personal defense should be allowed in their homes and businesses. Rather than eliminating the 2nd Amendment, they want it limited to self defense and restricted to personal defense weapons kept, while outlawing assault weapons designed for war, as well as making it illegal to run around in public with firearms. In addition, strict background checks should be required, while people deemed unfit should be restricted from keeping any kind of firearms.
That has nothing to do with the Electoral College. Just another dishonest Republican fantasy that splits the country.
So you say, Jorg, maybe you are right, but the EC is an issue here.
Eliminating the EC will turn America into a one party country, 100% controlled by progressive Democrats.
You, the only progressive with whom I discuss politics, told me that you think if someone’s property is vandalized and/or looted, the perpetrators should be shot on sight.
Can’t do that if the 2nd Amendment is eliminated.
By the way, I don’t discuss politics with my many other progressive friends because their woke feelings are too delicate.
I’m glad you’re tough, because I enjoy sparring with you.
So, Al, what’s wrong with letting the majority win, like in all other free countries? With the EC, we have let the minority get their way, with the horrible results I mentioned before. Talking about 100% control by progressive Democrats is only Republican scare tactics. Each state is thoroughly represented both in the House and in the Senate, with the smallest states represented with exactly the same number of senators as the largest! And, the Supreme Court will stay Conservative in the foreseeable future!
However, I have not advocated abolishing the 2nd Amendment, only restricting gun ownership to personal protection from home or business. Fair enough?
