According to the NY Times editorial April 27, the Koch brothers and their conservative allies in state governments have found a new tax they can support: a tax on solar energy panels.
The Kochs and other big polluters have been spending heavily to fight incentives for renewable energy, which have been adopted by most states. They particularly dislike state laws that allow homeowners with solar panels to sell power ve been pushing legislatures to impose a surtax on this increasingly popular practice, hoping to make installing solar panels on houses less attractive. If that’s not the epitome of reckless selfishness, I don’t know what is. It is not enough for the Koch brothers to already be super-rich beyond anyone’s imagination. Not only do they want more, but at the expense of the rest of us, and to the detriment of the environment.
The only ones worse would be politicians who let themselves be bought off to support such insane endeavors, – not to mention voters gullible enough to keep voting for such unpatriotic, despicable reps.
