During the 2012 campaign, Republican presidential hopeless Mitt Romney promised that he would get the unemployment rate down to 6% in 4 years, by 2016, if he were elected, heaven forbid.
Not only did the incumbent Obama beat Romney in the presidential race, but he got the unemployment rate down to 5.9% in less than 2 years, or half the time promised by Romney. While Romney promised, Obama delivered. Big difference!
However, the caveat is that Republicans only give Republican presidents credit for declining unemployment figures, while they only hold Democratic presidents accountable if the rate goes up.
That’s just the way it is, – in today’s less than honest political environment.
