My comment was directed at House speaker Boehner’s reference to “religious freedom”. If kept personal, I have no trouble with religion. But when religion infests politics and enables politicians to fool gullible people, and to keep incompetent politicians in important positions, I have a serious problem. Without evangelical support, George W. Bush would never have made it into the White House, – even with Supreme support and intervention. Imagine how much better off we would have been with Al Gore as our president, – you know, the one who got the most votes? A more alert administration may even have been able to prevent 9/11, – with all the warning signs ignored by Bush and his gang of war mongers.

However, many people that I know and respect harbor religious beliefs. It is very clear that much of the misery in the world is due to religious extremists. However constant snide remarks about all things religious strike me as the snarky bigotry of closed minds.
