I won’t argue with your statistical break down, Ray, – but no doubt that the Democratic campaign broke down, for a number of reasons, both internal and not the least, external.
While the evangelicals initially were rather suspicious of Trump’s behavior, that all changed when he stooped low enough to wave the Bible! Then, all his immoral behavior was forgotten and forgiven, – the latter rather bizarre since ill behavior towards someone cannot be “forgiven” by someone else not affected! Although a popular self-serving custom among the religious, that kind of cheap “forgiveness” defies all logic and common sense.

It wasn’t uneducated voters or evangelicals that elected Donald Trump. Hillary was supposed to have a wide lead with college-educated white voters, but she tallied only 39% of the men and 51% of the women in that demographic. That group also had incomes higher than the national median.

Trump cleaned up in rural America, but that’s only about 17% of the electorate. So, who voted for Trump? America’s voters break down like this: 32% Democrats… 23% Republicans… 40% independents (and that number is growing). If you’re trying to figure out who voted for Trump… don’t look at the Bible Belt or the Rust Belt. Look to the suburbs. Look at independent voters. If Hillary would have connected with them, she would be president. Read the book, “Shattered.” It chronicles where the Clinton campaign put it’s energy and money. Oddly enough, Bill Clinton suggested a different strategy, i.e. get outside the cities and listen to the voters in the suburbs, but Hillary followed the advice of her team instead.
