The eleven hour long Benghazi review of old news Thursday, wasn’t very surprising at all.
It was no surprise that the Republicans on the board would ask condescending and outrageous questions in a desperate attempt to wear Hillary Clinton down.
It was also a given that frustrated third grade attorneys would use the opportunity and try to play powerful, rapid-questioning interrogators, partly to impress the folks back home, while sounding ridiculous to real-life lawyers.
The only surprise was that it never occurred to them that such a silly show might strengthen Hillary as a presidential candidate!
Or, perhaps they realized, deep down, that even they as hard-core Republicans would be better off with a Democratic administration?
Who knows, – we shouldn’t completely underestimate them, – ultimately, selfishness resides deep down in most people, – especially Republicans.
Hi Jorg,
Congratulations on getting this blog item published as a letter to the editor in the Oct. 30 Daily News.
I’d like to point out an oversight in your commentary.
The Committee DID produce some NEW news in the form of three documents proving that Mrs. Clinton knew for a fact on the night of the attack in Benghazi that the attack was planned and executed by an Al Qaeda-like terrorist group.
However, the election was less than two months away, and a terrorist attack did not fit President Obama’s trumped up wishful narrative that “the terrorists are on the run”.
So Mrs. Clinton and Mr. Obama (who certainly knew the truth) conspired to lie, by blaming the attack on a non existent demonstration over a video. This lie was repeated by Mrs. Clinton to the families of the deceased victims of the attack, by Mr Obama to the nation, and by Susan Rice who was the (unwitting?) patsy sent out to announce it on all the Sunday news shows.
Another thing I can point out about this atrociously glaring, profound and PROVEN lie is that it is a pretty well kept secret thanks to the cover up by the extremely left biased news organizations who comprise the majority of the media of this country. That alone is proof of the media bias that is leading our citizenry down the progressive’s garden path. God help our nation!
I am disgusted by the press, by Hillary, and by the President and his administration.
What a shame, and thank Heavens for Fox News!
Al
What a rather inconsequential misrepresentation of a confusing situation in a difficult to control and assess foreign environment! Compare that with the very consequential lies on the part of the Bush administration that led us into a totally unnecessary, costly and devastating war with Iraq! That was a deliberate lie with dire consequences, while the Benghazi misrepresentation made no real difference, – except it gave the Republicans something to gripe about, – again and again. While it is questionable that the four Americans killed in Benghazi could have been saved, the thousands killed or maimed in Iraq could easily have been saved under a more responsible and honest administration than the war-hungry Bush-Cheney gang.
Hm? Inconsequential??
The premise of your Oct 27 blog is that the committee hearing had nothing to do with truth seeking and was just an unsuccessful attempt to discredit Hillary. An event that showed nothing new.
The real truth is that a VERY inconvenient truth of Clinton/Obama lying was exposed by the committee, supported by documentary evidence of it. Not to mention State dept. ineptness.
To say that there was no new news is just another lie being perpetrated by the liberal media (including your blog).
When confronted with the documents proving her lie, her laughably weak rebuttal to the committee was, ” I did say it was an attack”.
She stated it as if she was providing the committee with new knowledge.
The impressive thing about her reply was that she delivered it with a straight face.
What an actress!!
Your pathetic Nov 3 response to my comments, attempt to paper over the disgusting “it was a video” story by pointing at the Iraq war is sad.
I had hoped for better from you. You disappoint me by dragging out the discredited old chestnut, “Bush lied, people died”.
It is well established that foreign governments and Democrats in the Senate (including Hillary) saw and believed and acted on the intelligence about WMDs that led to the war.
It is regrettable that the war happened, but pinning it primarily on Bush/Cheney is progressive claptrap promoted so often by the lefty media that much of the gullible public has come to believe this propaganda.
Regarding the effectiveness of the “video lie” influencing the elections:
It is interesting that during the Imperial Obama’s reign he has helped elect more Republicans than anyone in history.
900 state legislative seats
12 governors
69 house seats
14 senate seats
Al, your independently thinking, Republican registered friend.
Fantastic content. Appreciate it.
